Modern technological developments, increasing requirements on land, the cooperation of the Department with other organisations relating directly or indirectly to land, at European and international level, have changed dramatically the form, the level, and the complexity of information requested from the Department.
As a result of modern methodologies and techniques that have been developed, the Cartography Branch has the capability of processing cadastral and cartographic data, in conventional and digital form. The vision of the Branch is the further simplification of its procedures, and the upgrading of its services, for the benefit of the Department of Lands and Surveys and for the benefit of other Departments, Services and the public in general. Its target is the automation of geoinformation exchange between the users of Geographic Information Systems, in an integrated working environment. This target can succeed with the further development of the Land Information System, with the use of geographic applications on the Internet.
