The Development and Update of the Cartographic Database Section undertakes the following tasks:

• The collection and processing of geospatial data, and their entry into the cartographic database, using as backgrounds the cadastral plans, topographic and other maps, satellite images, aerophotos, field data, and other data obtained from other Departments and Services.
• The preparation and processing of data, and conducts complex analyses using GIS software.
• The provision of digital data to other Departments, Services, Organisations, individuals, and other branches of the Department, in order to meet their service needs.
