GEODESY SECTION
This section is responsible for expanding and maintaining the Geodetic and Altitude Network of Cyprus, the Geodetic calculations, and monitoring, maintaining and expanding the permanent stations, known to you, as CYPOS (Cyprus Positioning System).
Satellite observations
- For drone mapping purposes, 81 targets were placed and mapped in areas indicated by the Cyprus AgriculturalPaymentsOrganisation.
- For the Photogrammetry Section, 13 targets were placed on the ground and mapped for drone mapping tests.
- 9 targets were placed and mapped in order to map the Pournara area.
- 4 beacons were accounted for the Hydrography Section.
Geodetic networks maintenance
- Status study, identification and updating of the descriptive sheets for 4,490 third order points.
- Identification and updatingof 8 firstandsecondorderpoints in Paphos District.
- Identification and updatingof 5 elevationpointsinPaphos District.
Committee for Missing Persons
- In various occasions, following the preparation of relevant material by the Photogrammetry Section, thepersonnelof the Geodesy Section has indicated on the ground, locations helpful for Missing Persons cases.
Providing assistance
- Provision of assistance tothe Cartography Section in identifying and mappingthe buffer zone and the accessibility line.

- 363 points of the old Geodetic Network with their coordinates and other relevant information were entered in the database for non-occupied territories.

The contribution of the EGM08 geodynamic model to the gravity field of the region of Cyprus
- Research on the altitudenetwork and its densificationand calculation of elevations.
- Preservation of office records that were destroyed due to daily and long-term use.
- Location checksonpermanent stations for maintenance purposes.
- Local visits and inspection of the thirdclass points to update their status
- Densification of the secondclass Geodetic Network, with points to be placed in areas where network points have been destroyed.
- Continuation of the database update with data relating to the Geodetic Network points.
